Mrs. Kelly Shanks
Hi! My name is Kelly Shanks and I teach Kindergarten at Rogers Early Elementary. I have taught 1st grade, preschool and kindergarten for a total of 23 years. Yep, you can say that I love the little learners! I especially love teaching them to exercise their brains and to be strong, independent thinkers.
Not only do I love teaching, but I also love learning. I earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan, a Masters in the Art of Teaching degree from Marygrove College, and a 2nd Masters in Elementary Reading and Literacy from Walden University. Although academic learning is important, I have to say that my most meaningful learning comes from the interactions with my students and all those little moments we share everyday. They inspire me to be the best teacher I can be.
When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my family. My husband Todd and I have two amazing children. Our daughter, Jade, is a middle school math teacher and our son, Hunter, just graduated from MSU with a degree in Criminal Justice. Even though they are grown, I still like when they are hanging out at home and dragging them on family trips. Any place with water, sand, dogs and family is my favorite place to be!
